Keynote – Joe Banks – Sound Art as Mainstream Cultural Commodity

Author and sound artist Joe Banks argues in his book “Rorschach Audio – Art & Illusion for Sound” that “the earliest form of sound recording technology was not a machine but was written language”. Extrapolating this argument, Joe Banks discusses the relationship between conventional notions of sonic arts practice, and the role of sonic creativity in historic and contemporary arts and in culture generally.
