Rei tells us:

In this 8th edition, I am glad to be able to present pieces that represent one of the tendencies of new music in the last 10 years.  I would call it Neo-Minimalism.  Unlike the “Minimalism” represented by for example, Steve Reich, this music does not consist of rhythmical repetitive motives in a groovy way. The motives, either melodic or rhythmic,  show up several times through out the pieces in a recognizable way.  It is not a real “repetition” since they are not exactly the same. This kind of minimalism has grown popular in recent times but since the background of the composers differs a lot, the pieces also sound completely different. It is totally interesting to hear pieces having the similar concept but sounding completely different from each other.

This trailer gives you an idea of the project Rei will perform, it includes 3 new pieces each receiving their UK premier in Edinburgh.
The program is touring across Spain, UK, Brazil and Germany.

Rei  has also worked with the composer Christoph Ogiermann, who some of you may remember for his stunning concert at the Informatics Forum in 2008.
